Where should the Next US Grandprix be held?

There's such a dearth of road courses here in the States that would be suited to F1 given the FIA's safety standards. But I'd love to see an F1 race at Laguna Seca. I think it would be similar for the cars to the Hungaroring, only made a lot more interesting with the Corkscrew.

Having a race in NYC would be special. It'll just never, ever happen though.

I would think that Laguna Seca is a no for safety reasons. As much downforce as these cars have, I still think they would fly off the Corkscrew and immediately crash. It'd be a one lap race of hilarity.

Indy was what made the USGP unique, a oval/road mix with banking. There are plenty of ovals in the US. Las Vegas Motor Speedway has plenty of empty space they could develop for an open car road course external to the oval, and it could use the quarter mile as a main straight.

Even better would be to find any place with terrain like Spa, or even Turkey. Upgraded Thunderhill, or Willow Springs maybe?

Riiightt.... so what about all those dozens of cars and bikes with much, much less (or no) downforce that don't fly off? I also presume you missed Toyota setting a lap record with the TF106 2 years ago.
But yeah, safety reasons and track boringness (one freak-section doesn't make a track) are reason enough to stay away.

What about Daytona International Speedway? The best banking in the World plus the road course has some nice turns. They have the Rolex 24 hour race there every year and that race is very exciting to watch.

I think that's probably the best place to have it. Good flowing track, big enough for them to have room to go side to side, I would say there are a few passing places too.

The Glen would be my sentimental choice though. That's been my favorite US roadcourse for as long as I can remember. I think the current everyday layout might be too short though. They would have to use the lower section with turns 6-9.


Or maybe they could use the original design from 1948

I Would love to see an F1 car there. With a few more grandstands and better facilities i think its suitable for F1. It has kinda the same feel as Spa.

Who says there will BE another US GP? I certainly want to see it, but there is not a great deal of interest in F1 here in the USA.

Road America or Watkins Glen would get my vote. =D>

However, I think both might come up short in terms of local hotels, airports, road access, etc - not to mention the ludicrous requirement imposed by Mosleystone.
