Inside Williams factory

Post

Unfortunately for you international fellows, the audio is dubbed (loudly) in french, but it's maybe the better video I've ever seen of the insides of an F1 team factory.

 http://video.eurosport.fr/formule1/the- ... ideo.shtml

There are some great views of the wind tunnel's inside architecture, some interesting stuff like the pit crew training on a "pit stop car", a chassis exclusively designed for that purpose, some insights of how the team operates in taking decisions, logistically or technically (note that the documentary takes place in the days following Monaco GP), and a very interesting and detailed explaination of the tests operated in the "hydraulic-systems dyno", where an emulated engine gives power to the hydraulic pump, with gearbox (linked to the clutch) mounted, as well as hydraulic distribution for power steering... The guy even goes as far as admiting they almost ever start to have leaks from the 2000 km mark, while the test aims at reaching 3000 km. You can see on the screens that dyno work is done with the Jerez track simulator, which is probably the most stressing one for hydraulics, as Monza is for the engine.
It ends with an emotional interview of the official brake-systems scrutineer, a 62 year old man who entered the team in 1980, when both Nico and Kazuki weren't even born!

Enjoy

Uh, that's bad! I wouldn't have thought they'd put some regional restrictions on free video content  . What a bunch of morrons... Are there some members of other countries having acces to it?

I'll try to find it on youtube, or maybe extract it from the eurosport website, if I find how to do.
(Modbaraban, if you read it, your help would be appreciated, as I bet you're THE one knowing how to steal their video :) , you internet freak!)

Nice video
vyselegend, no I've no idea gow to steal those, sorry to disappoint you :)
On a good side though, both link are available for me, I guess it's no problem to view anywhere in europe. It's also easy to get a EU proxy to access it elsewhere.

wiki: Proxy server
Sometimes I resort to this.

Do you mean that it doesn't show the video square on the right, or that the video in it doesn't play when clicked on?

In both case it don't looks like regional restriction, so there might be something going wrong with your web browser (I can see it with FF & Opéra, hasn't tried with IE or Safari). Or if you're at work it can be because your web administrator closed the port used for videostreaming (don't remember which one it is).

Wow, a Myth has fallen :o , who would have thought there's something modbaraban can't steal on the net!
Thanks for the proxy info btw, it would have been very usefull to have that link for Canada. Back then I wasn't able to find how to get the chinese TV thing working, having an UK based proxy server would have allowed connecting to speedTV online broadcast...

I can find the video, and I can click on it. It acts like it is playing about a 10 second advertisement, but the screen is black, and after the ad, it remains black...

Anyone have a youtube link?
