Can the standard ECU give McLaren an advantage in the wet?

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

Can the standard ECU give McLaren an advantage in the wet?

Post

I know that the subject of the supposed advantage that McLaren may have, by being the developers, and having worked with that kind of ECU has been mentioned before. But can it be possible that they may have better mappings, and knowledge of the ECU that might help them in the wet?

Not particularly discussing the possible advantage in the wet, but still about the supposed advantage none the less. Keep the paranoia down a bit please.

Recommendation to who may need it; next time please take a bit more time to search for a topic, even if its just a few pages back in whatever board it may fit into.

It isn't the ECU which is providing the Mclaren's an advantage. It's tyres which are proving to be a disadvantage for the scarlet team.

In a recent interview, we come to know that Ferrari chassis degrades the tyre lesser as compared to the Mclarens. Hence the Ferrari takes longer to warm up their tyres than the Mclaren and in the rain the Ferrari's find it very dificut to warm up their tyres. That's the reason why Kimi's tyres weren't changed in the first pitstop in Britian last time round. But Kimi's tyres had gone bald and hence he was struggling. For Massa I have no comments.
