Massa

You know i'm in brazil right now and all the newspapers have a picture of massa crying, and I really do feel sorry for him...funny enough I think Massa has probably gained more fans after this purely because of his sportsmanship.

You know, I remember being fan of Jean Alesi. Loosing in style always touches people's hearts.

I reckon that Massa will be in contention for the 09 title, but he'll have to beat Raikkonen

I guess you could take the crying different ways. people didn't really think hakkinen crying between some trees in 99 was very manly.

Well, it is reportedly qiote serious in Brazil. I remember several years ago some team personnel was robbed. Anyway, this only supports the image he has created over last season.

You have a good point Vasco, I felt a connection with Massa after seeing the post race coverage, it was sporting drama at its best and changed my opion of the man.
At the begining of the season I really did not think Massa was very good, after Malaysia I didn't think he was good enough to be in a Ferrari. But after seeing him sobbing after the race and hearing his comments in the interview I had a new respect for him. I never tought he had so much heart, and he really handled his defeat with the grace and dignity of a true sportsman.

I think that Massa has impressed in many ways this year.

First - his driving, he very much would have been a deserving champion, he had a great season and my opinion of him has spun 180deg.

He always seems to be bright and chirpy and never complains about his team (boy have they given some problems this year......)

In Brasil he absolutely did everything right and has showed great dignity after the race........

I'm sure he will gain many fans

Well done Felipe Massa. This is not a matter of amusement. It is bad enough if some misguided souls are capable of doing harm to a competitor to satisfy their blind hate. To make fun of this is not appropriate. A [-X for Zack for doing that.

I agree completely with RH1300S, totally and 100%. Massa has in all ways been an exceptionally good driver this year. Sure he's had some cock-ups (eg. Silverstone) but so has Lewis (eg. Fuji). I mean the guys can make mistake they're not infalliable. And they're both relatively young. Gone are the days od metronomic consistency and this may be in part due to a lack of TC and other driver aids atm.

Massa has been a true gentleman, and a proper sportsman this year, and I for one wish him all the best. Its strange, I support Lewis (and I have done for nearly 5years now), but I still support Massa (just a little bit less so) I've also found that I'm gaining my like for Fernando again. But Felipe's attitude is almost everything I like in a competetor and Fernandos, well...needs some work.

Massa is going to be WDC one day. And if not, if he continues this attitude he will be remembered in the sport as one of the real "Nearly guys who should have done it" which isn't exactly all that bad. He'll also be remembered for missing out, but with style, and also bucket loads, no make that truck loads, of class.

+1.

I earlier (Months ago) said Massa was not a #1 quality driver. I was wrong.
