Re: Schumacher cancels comeback !

A complete farce! It should never have been made public if there was ever a doubt it could happen, now he'll get nothing but comments like "he wimped out", "he realised he can't beat Kimi" etc. etc. and to be honest, for this complete waste he deserves them.

What about the people that bought tickets? People who placed bets etc? Ferrari have just messed everyone about with this silly half assed publicity stunt.

Diesel sounds like somebody stole the Jam from your Donut!

Have to agree does sounds half arsed. It would be alot to ask for anybody to make a comeback to race fitness in 4 weeks after not really doing any car racing for the last 2 years. Lets alone have such an injure to get over as well.

Guess we will see one of the test drivers in the seat.

I should hope not as that wouldn't be fair. He wanted too, but neck fractures are a serious issue and possibly fantasy took over reality...can't blame the guy for trying. TBH though I'd have thought medics would have said straight away that the damage is too great to survive a crash.

Hopefully (I fully expect actually) the FIA will overturn the Renault ban too aleviate the issue. But it's a shame for them...eBay may see a spike in tickets ;)

If you had read the official communication you would know that the come back was allways under the condition of a satisfactory medical.

People dumb enough to take a risk on that deserve nothing better. When you loose a gamble in a casino do you also tell the croupier or dealer that you did not know you could loose?

A pitty. I was so much looking forward to it.

Nooo... My dream of seeing Schumi racing again is completely ruined. Is it for real or is there some conspiracy behind his medical report? I mean that is there someone who does not want him to return to F1? Well, this is just my opinion by the way.

Shouldn't we post replies in Schumi comes back thread instead?

Bernie wanted him back, so trust me, it's genuine.

Who has egg on face

Post

After all the hype with MS back on the seen and now pulled out. His neck injury earlier this year was still a big question mark regarding his fitness to race.
Ferrari look rather stupid, it's rather like going into battle but forgetting the ammo. Ha-Ha. They have a very good reserve driver but he was overlooked. I bet he was pissed at the time and now has to drive.
Who is the winner? Valencia must be laughing with Renault possibly not racing and the possibility of MS in the hot seat and now a no show.
Personally I feel teams have there reserve drivers and that should be there first choice and after that call in the reserves.
I would quite like to see MS driving but surely there should be the rite protocol to make it happen i.e. be registered as the teams reserve driver.

Who is this "good" reserve driver then?

Badoer.

Well, despite that I'm disappointed that Schumacher won't have a go, I feel this is sort of historical justice for Luca. I really hope he gets a point or two! And if he makes onto the podium - you'd be sure that there will be one more 100% happy man on earth!

Badoer stepping in isn't a "comeback", it's the undead crawling out of the ground.

Badoer's last drive was in 1999 for Minardi. When Badoer last raced, Schumacher was yet to win a championship with Ferrari.

When Badoer last raced, Lewis Hamilton was 14. Sebastian Vettel was 12.

Not that he was a good driver in his prime. He didn't score a single point in his career, and Ferrari rejected him in favour of Mika Salo when Schumacher was injured in '99.

Just look at the official press release. Ferrari "decided to give Luca Badoer the chance to race for the Scuderia after he has put in so many years of hard work as a test driver". He got the race seat as a reward for long service, not because he's competitive.
