Danica Patrick in F1

Post

What does every one think about Danica Patrick racing in F1?

It would be nice if USF1 would sign her.

Tonio Liuzzi is going to race for Force India and it officially confirmed

She'll be doing NASCAR, not F1.

Danica in F1? Couldn't wouldn't shouldn't happen.

NASCAR is desperate for gimmicky stuff these days to keep the fans interested. (viz. Digger, TNT's obnoxious broadcast format for the CocaCola 400, bs cautions late in the race) They'll pay her plenty and hope that housewives suddenly like watching someone turn left 1000 times on a Saturday night.

She's been going quick on the ovals from what I've seen but she hasn't really got any pace on the bendy bits. It might be cool to see her in F1 but only for as long as the first race until she reveals an embarrassing lack of pace, it'd stop being fun around about there.

Well, she was scheduled for a test for Honda in November 2008 (didn't happen because... well... no Honda!) so I would say she was at least a bit interested in Formula 1.

And since then she's said she'd rather try NASCAR...

It would be sexist to have Danica Patrick in F1.

The only advantage to Danica, other than the obvious "but she's marginally attractive" comments, is her weight.

She's basically like all the other F1 drivers, minus 50-70lbs, depending on who you compare against. If she was semi quick, that is a huge advantage, especially over her teammate.

Quite a good point, but it is very doubtful that we will see Danica in F1 in 2010.

Danica is quoted as saying when questioned about her plans for 2010 is quoted as saying by the LA Times: “I’d say it’s probably not F1.”

We also did a full write-up, FYI.

Honestly I doubt she'd even go into NASCAR if she thought she'd have to qualify on time. She's already got the limelight in Indy and has a good ride.

If she goes to another series (especially one that rarely has its highlights aired on SportsCenter) and doesn't do well (which she probably wouldn't because she'd be driving for a first-year team) and all people see is her spinning, crashing, and getting lapped, then it'll have looked like a really bad career move.

Edit: let's move this to Other Series already and start guessing what NASCAR team she'll drive for. I'm thinking Penske or Petty.

Sad thing is they'd all cry like babies about her being so small and having an advantage. Which is laughable at best, she can't and shouldn't be penalized for her size. She can't control that any more that someone with a better sense of balance. But they've already whined about it in the IRL.

Didn't they hit her with a penalty for it?
