An electric Volvo.

Post

An all-electric Volvo was presented in a Swedish engineering rag the other day. The C30BEV has an 82 kW (111 Hp) permanent-magnet motor and a 300 kg Li-Ion battery holding 22.7 kWh of energy, which is 82 MJ or the energy-equal of 2.4 liter of gasoline. If you plan on using all 111 horses all of the time, battery will only last for 16 minutes, but if you are happy with no more than 30, you can drive for an hour.

Both top-speed and accelleration is limited to 130 km/h and 10.5 sec from 0-100 respectively. Charging in 8h at 240V and 16A.

Estimated full-production price? 50 000 EUR

So it's very slow, low milage per charge, and very expensive.

That's exciting.

I actually quite like most of the current Volvo range for being reasonably good while being quite different ;)

That's very nice of you to say so mod, but at the moment it looks like Volvo will become Chinese.
