Getting To That Time Again...

Post

...Time for the Australian GP rumor mill to go into overdrive.

Usually its about where the Austrailian GP is going to be in the future, this time isa about a purpose built facility to be built near the Avalon Airport in-between Melbourne and Geelong.

Personally i think that Keith Collantine has a point, moove away from the cramped facility at Albert Park, whitch has had many critisisms over the year from noise to environmental impact and disruption. Moove away to a cuircit that can hold a night race there, as us here in Europe would prefer that i would think. And also it would mean that all the critisism that followed Albert Park would leave and everyone, may be happy.

yes! i agree. This should be done and it makes perfect sense.

I just hope Tilke hasent touched this! If the track layout is average as most new tracks have been the past decade, just leave it where it is (Albert Park is a nice track)

And the idea of a night race is brillient! You can have the V8 supercars there also, as much as I dislike the series nowdays.

It would be interesting to know how much extra cost goes into rebuilding the track each year. It seems to be substantial if the FiA recommends to invest this money into a permanent facility. I just fail to see why Australia isn't promoting Sydney instead of Melbourne or Adelaide. The bigger population of greater Sidney and the higher tourism would help reducing the deficit of the Australian GP. Sidney airport moves more than twice the number of international passengers than Melbourne airport does (11,2 mio vs 4,9 mio). It could make a big difference to the marketing side of the GP.
