What tracks do you want to see?

Other than the tracks that are currently on the calendar... what tracks do you want to see on the calendar? Or maybe, which tracks do you want back? :D

Any new track that is not deigned by Tilke.

We need a new Spa. Not in Belgium to replace Spa, but a track that is chosen by the country side. One that has character because of where it is, not how it was designed.

There are about 10 sections of the old Nurburgring that are like that, flow, hills, blinds, off camber corners.

Bahrain, Turkey, flat and blah.

Now that we have Abu Dhabi, we don't need any other Middle Eastern tracks. The theme park and atmosphere blow away Bah-rain and Turkey, and these tracks get emptier each year of fans.

A middle eastern oil baron should put money into a race into the states. I think they realize that an F1 race won't bring many people to the desert like they hoped.

France needs a race.

I look at Lime Rock, it's surrounding undeveloped hilly area, it's closeness to the ocean. if the original track was maintained, and had a run out in to the forest like the old Hockenheim, that would pretty incredible.

Hartford is right there.

Portimao looks great and F1-approuved. I hope it will be include soon!

If I have to choose some old tracks, I'd say Buenos Aires. Maybe not the funniest for spectators but great for drivers!

And of course, F1 must come back in France. It's a shame we have nothing, but there is a kind of "motorsport rejection" since we decide to be ecological... (which could be a good thing if it was done in the right way, but actually it's only fashion and lobbying  )

Lime Rock Park might as well be NASCAR in reverse. Not particularly technical... though it might make for some interesting setup choices.

I do like tracks with elevation and road camber changes. Sebring? Not so much. Indy I'm not too excited about either. Laguna Seca.. Barber Motorsports Park.. Mid Ohio.. Watkins Glen.. VIR.. those are cool tracks.
Grip is a four letter word. All opinions are my own and not those of current or previous employers.

it's kinda been discussed in numerous threads, but what the hell, i'll add fuel to the fire. we know that there are only a few tracks who could host an f1 race that currently do not. but, i agree with lurk, i would love to see a renewed portuguese gp at autodromo do algarve...watch the a1gp or lms vids and then imagine an f1 car doing it. seems like it would be fantastic! :)
Best regards. I guess this explains why I'm not at my post!

Bring back Zandovoort, and even though it's in the middle of nowhere OH, Miller Motorsports Park would be an awesome venue for F1, it's just so high speed, and it's super wide. Maybe too many corners could be taken flat out, turn one and two would require very little breaking, three could be flat if you nail it right. And if you use the long version you have that triple left hander followed by a tricky right and decreasing radius esses.

I'd vote for Bathurst (Mount Panorama Circuit) even though safety wise it's not up to it. But you just got to love the layout! Also, I kinda liked Magny-Cours.. maybe I'm the only one, don't know :P

My ideal 22 race callender would be this:

1) Austrailia - Albert Park
2) Malaysia - Sepang
3) China - Shanghai (Boring, but its a race in China)
4) Bahrain - Sakhir (Change of layout every year, keep teams on their feet)
5) Quatar - Losail
6) Spain - Circuit de Catalunya
7) Monaco
8) Turkey - Istanbul Park
9) Hungary - Hungaroring
10) Canada - Montreal
11) USA - Watkins Glen/Barber Motorsports Park
12) France - Magney Cours/Circuit Paul Ricard HTTT (Paul Ricard change the layout every year, there are 179 layouts & 80 "wet" configurations leading to a sheduled wet race)
13) Great Britian - Silverstone (Layout change each year, GP and Areana layouts only)
14) Germany - Hockenhiem & Nurburgring
15) European - Donnington/Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari/Ciudad del Motor de Aragón/Unused French and German GP track for added race once every 5 years between the 5 biggest Europen F1 nations. France/Germany/Britian/Spain/Italy.
16) Portugal - Autódromo Internacional do Algarve
17) Belgum - Spa
18) Italy - Monza
19) Singapore Night Race
20) Korea - Korean International Circuit
21) Japan - Suzuka/Fuji (Id bring fuji back into the fold as well)
22) India - Jaypee Group Circuit
23) Abu Dhabi - Yas Marina Circuit
24) Brazil - Autódromo José Carlos Pace

Now some rules:

* 24 races, many of the europen races would be back to back. Each team would have to have effectivly 2 race teams, on at the current GP, the other traveling to the next GP, only the team management goes to every GP.

* Link it into the ruling that each driver has to sign minimum 2 year contracts where any driver can only use a maximum of 5 chassis in any 2 year cycle.

* Testing would be kept to a minimum of two 3 day tests at Circuit Ricardo Tormo where the teams have to attend one to be eligible for racing that year. Get the teams to run from literally no baseline and hopefully get masses of unrelyability early season.

* The top 6 teams from the previous season will only be allowed single car testing, but the others are allowed 2 car testing in those tests.

* Drivers chosen at the beginning of the season must see the season out. No changing mid season.

* Only one reserve driver per team. Reserve driver must equally share pre season testing duties with main drivers.

* Each team must in FP1 feild a Test & Reserve or Development/Young driver at every GP to avoid the Badoer/Grosjean fiasco.

My track criteria:

-Preferably historic/prestigious
-Fast & Flowing (no 1km straights followed by hairpins, rince/repeat)
-Elevation and camber changes

Anything that fits in to that, I'm happy with.

Lime Rock on it's own is too short, but with an extension that is more technical for F1 cars, and to make it long enough, it would be excellent IMO. The corner leading up the hill to the back straight, and the corner going down the hill to the front straight are very technical corners. Small mistakes cost a lot of time, and offer room for passing on the straights. Hitting the hill too fast, and you are airborne.

Assuming the track was extended, it sits in a valley, offering great views. It is reasonably close to New York, and to Hartford, and an international airport. Al the land around is conducive to camping and tailgating, much like many Nascar events, so it might be good for American fans to consider. There is ample room to improve runoffs for the old section.

It seems like a good spot to consider for these reasons, plus ~2 hour drive from JFK.

My ideal calender.

1. Australia- Philip Island of Melbourne
2. Malasia- Sepang
3. Turkey- Istanbul/Bahrain- Sakhir/Abu Dahbi- Yas Marina
4. Spain- Motorland Aragón or Circuit de Catalunya
5. San Marino- Imola
6. Portugal- Portimão
7. Monaco- Monte Carlo
8. Hungary- Hungaroring
9. Czech Republic- Brno
10. Britain- Silverstone
11. France- Dijon-Prenois (something like this? http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=3374677 )
12. Germany- Hockenheim (old version)
13. Austria- Österreichring (not the a1 ring)
14. Pacific- Long Beach
15. Canada- Montreal
16. United States- Watkins Glen or Road America
17. Belgium- Spa-Francorchamps
18. Italy- Monza
19. Singapore- Marina Bay
20. Japan- Suzuka
21. Argentina- Potero de los Funes
22. Brazil- Interlagos

I would also love to see some form of scandinavian gp (a race track built in the pine forests would be fantastic) and possibly a return to zandvoort

my most important track criteria:

> Great atmosphere/location, great views and bustling crowds add so much to a gp
> Variety in lap length, most of the current tracks are around 5.5km long. i think there should be at least 6 tracks that are longer than 6km, they are more of a challenge providing better racing and increasing the variety on the calender
> a return to some historic venues and traditional hosts of grand prix.
> Elevation changes
> fast and flowing circuits that always challenge the driver

in regard to the design of new tracks, i think a re-think of the fia circuit design regulations are urgently needed. it is far to restrictive to allow for creative design http://tiny.cc/j8U62. having said that, sack tilke, hes starting to get annoying.

There is one (in Norway).

It's 'Mo I Rana' or 'Arctic Circle Raceway' and it's amazing.
