No Francorchamps in 2003

Post

<img src="http://www.f1technical.net/images/news/spa2.jpg" alt="" align=left>Any hopes on a Belgian Grandprix that was left, has been slashed away yesterday, after a negative vote in the Belgian parliament.
Inspite of having a lot of positives that wanted the Belgian Grand Prix to go on, flemish socialist party SPA and both Green partys dismissed the proposal do delay the tobacco ban for big international sports events until 2005. 2005 is also the year where no tobacco advertisements will be allowed in whole Europe. :?
The FIA and Formula One in general was hoping Belgium would push ahead with the dropping of a regional ban in favour of following the rest of Europe which will adopt the EU/FIA ban in 2005.

That's what I think of it! It has been shown that the amount of smokers has risen with 5% the year after the tobacco ban! So that surely must count for something! Just once belgium had a sport that was sponsored by a legite bussiness and than they vote against! If this would have been about football... :x
