Toyota TF110

And if a smaller team tries to do that, how does that sit with the "cost" issue they always like to bring up? Not very well is the answer.

Like KERS this year, no one will run DD's next year because it is not in their interests to do so.

The TF110 looks like a car designed specfically for 2010. In 2011 it would be a lame duck.
It is true, but who knows what the 13th team will be in 2011? is that team crazy enough to put it on(that team afterall is currently not signed to the FOTA). Also for example Williams could show FOTa their ass as the decision not to use it was made when they were suspended from FOTA, so they actually never agreed with it.

Yes but these people are not teenagers trying to upset the apple cart.

These teams need each other. These are the fundamental principles of FOTA, hence why they were glavanised under Max's leadership(divide and rule).

Sure they could run a DD, but when they need somthing in return FOTA will not be there. William could have been using Mercedes power this year had it not been for last years shannanigans, Haug slammed the door shut when Frank did his impression of american civil war and the turncoats!

What goes around comes around. And in F1, this happens with even more force.

Wonder where stepan GP would have been with this TF110.....
More could have been done.

DD illegal? 8) No big deal! slap some carbon under that floor: seal up the side holes, and you have yourself a single diffuser car, ready for 2011! Small feat compared to building a new car.

New Tyres for 2011? No big deal! They can't be that much different in terms of balance (assuming if the FOTA get what they want in interest of costs). Make some new control arms put some ballast here and there. Plug and play Good to race!

Well it is certainly a good option for the team to do these cheap tricks. The behaviour of the car might be a bit of surprise though.

As the single(patched up) diffuser out back will mean less downforce. This will move the centre of pressure forward (correct?) based on the smaller diffuser being less able to extend the lower pressure region of the front splitter rearward....

You'd have sub-optimized car as a result. The packaging of current designs is made with DDD in mind (e.g. inclined Ferrari engine, raised gearboxes etc) and if you're not having DDD channels you'd better re-pack everything otherwise you'd have higher CofG and probably rear end would be not too effective aero-wise.

donยดt forget others have to close these entries too so loooking back to 2009 you could say half a second was the minimum gain of having this item.
For me the reversal of this process can only have as consequence for an optimised solution you would have to lose half a second getting rid of the ddd or in a non optimised situation it was say 1.5s....comparing this to Lotus,Virgin,HRT still quicker then them, right?

for the tyres ...it`s new for everyone to not move can be a better choice to move in wrong directons at first...so noone at this time really has a clue where to go with suspension or wd,right?

Probably not as the rumor is that the teams are to all stay in Abu Dhabi for 2-3 weeks for testing after the season is over. The reasons are as follows:

1) Allow teams to do their young driver testing, as most of their guys will be there.
2) It would allow Bridgestone to finish their comitments up to 3 weeks earlier than planned.
3) All the team personell would be there, and cars.
4) The new supplyer would then be able to compair active laptimes arround the most current race.
5) Teams can then be allowed to have a single one off multi car test with their current race drivers and equiptment to gather data on the new tyre.

The way i have seen it put over is this:

2010 Abu Dhabi GP and Season finish on Sunday 14th Nobember
2010 Post Season Young Driver days take place from Tuesday 16th November (4 day test)
2011 Season testing in effect starts on Monday 21st November for a 5 day test for the current equiptment to test the 2011 rubber.

Makes sence and means that costs are cut as then you dont need to go to Jerez or Valencia for a couple of cold weeks in November where the track tempratures arnt what they would ideally be in the middle of the summer of 2011.

Altho one 3-day test may still be conducted in January with the 2010 cars for the new supplyer to gather data on their wet wether tyre, if they can find a track where its likley to be raining at that time of year (Sliverstone, if its not snow covered as it was this year).

Has this feature been used by other teams? What is it for/what does it do?
