Bernie E. ranting on the new teams

Post

Bernie E. was ranting on the new teams that they were performing very badly.
I think he is right, they haven't done anything but DNFs and it's probably not enough testing time or just the team or drivers are not doing very well.

I think there should be a new rule on team performance for example if the team can't perform very well and have too many DNFs they should not return for the next season and perform badly. Also the teams and F1 is loosing millions for underperfomanced teams.

I bet Bernie is loosing some dough too.

what you have to remember is these teams signed up to the 40mil budget. Reliability is lack of testing, hence why they have been finishing more and more races. Bernie moaning in press will not help. These aren't brought out teams their brand new

i expect a better season though next year for sure

As pres. & CEO of Formula One, he has the right to say what he wants, but that does not mean he should be so blunt & vocal in public. As a leader of the sport wanting to imporve it, he is not casting a very positive image. I think there are better ways he could imporve the performance of the entry level teams, namely HRT, than belittling them. I think he's purposely trying to anger them into improving themselves. Bernie was Brabham team onwner & I recall his team was regular backmarkers for a number of years. So in that regard he is a hypocrite.

The garbage backmarkers rest squarely on Max's shoulders. These teams and the "screening" that they went through were all his ideas. Even at $40mil those teams are never going to be good. They lack testing, knowledge, personnel, and time. Remember these guys were built in 9 months time. It is almost a recipe for failure.

Personally i dont think they belong in F1. Lotus does, but not Virgin or HRT.

Bernies sounds like a spoiled brat.

With limited time and budget, it was fairly obvious that the new teams would be backmarkers. Testing was also insufficient, to say the least.

If he chooses to replace the existing teams, it is not guaranteed that he won't face the exact same problems with the new ones.

Bernie is just putting a small rocket up the new teams backside just before Bonfire night.

With Lotus, they have been the best, and by quite a marjin. They have the facilities, finance and support base in staff and technology partners as well. They will be in F1 for a good while, if not for the ages again.

With Virgin Bernie has put that rocket up their tailpipe, the reason for this is to get Richard Branson to dig a little deeper and also get Wirth/Booth to concider to the same Williams deal as Hispania to get them going faster, quicker.

As for Hispania, the rocket up their arse is to get the rumored, posible, takeover of the team if the Carbanate family cannot finance another season of F1 or just cannot face another season of F1 they are likley to sell. However, they need to lower their $30m asking price for a sale, but one things for sure, they need to keep the team alive untill suce eventuality, hence why i think Geoff Willis is keeping the new chassis up and running and also the the Williams deal ia another indication that they mean to be in F1 for 2011.

Personally, i have more doubts about Virgin in 2011 than Hispania. How fast they will be, i recon still back of the grid, but not by as much as this year, maybes to where Lotus is this year at present at the start of 2011, if they both make it.

It's about time someone should replace Bernie. The guy is 80 and someone
should be in charge and it will be good for F1 to have a new boss.
