McLaren MP4-26 Mercedes

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Am I the only one that thinks this is bulky?

I know just a little bit about aerodynamics, and I prefer a clean butt rather than a wise front.
I believe that angle is misleading. The center of the U section is very much lower than the MP4-25 all the way to the back. The 3/4 view a couple of posts above shows it much better.

Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

Is that an exhaust I spy creeping out the back, just above the tray?

Ha! I was right. I mentioned the little nibs on the spokes on the car's launch day.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

Looks like it. Openings seem to be very big and far to the outside, almost pointing at the wheels.

Looks like a double floor to me.

Also, was browsing through the commentary on autosport live and saw that there is "some interest in the rear of the car" as its not the same as the launch spec.. They also have a picture up on the site which shows the 26 with a sensor array throughout the diffuser. Check it out:

Can't wait to see better pics.

No double floor, it's just black.
The floor is new, different (around the rear wheels) from the presentation version.
You can also see temperature sensitive paint (blue) just under the pullrod. means the exhaut are near imo...

Formula One's fundamental ethos is about success coming to those with the most ingenious engineering and best .............................. organization, not to those with the biggest budget. (Dave Richards)

I could imagine WB is reffering to the the dirt particles on the BargeBoard, but I think it's just tire marbles etc.

yes, where? If you are talking about that black square, then its just a sensor, probably a ir-camera for the front tires:
