Using GPS to work out fuel loads?

Post

Hey all. Nick worth mentioned a while back (in the BBC's f1 forum, sometime around germany I think) that using the GPS data that they get about the positions of all the cars, they've calculated that to achieve the same apex speeds, entries, exits, and straightline speeds, they would require 20% more downforce at the same level of drag.

Now, the GPS would facilitate and allow everyone to calculate the accelerations and apex speeds, etc of cars. Would it be somehow possible for teams to reverse engineer that data and somehow work out fuel loads? Just wondering as as we all know, testing doesn't mean much nowadays due to the fuel loads.

Not really much point using gps to get the fuel loads because they can get much more accurate data from the onboard computers.

No no, I meant a competing team. Say Ferrari were monitoring Red Bull during testing. But Red Bull might be runing 60 laps, or no laps of fuel. Could they work that out from the GPS data?

No not really. It wont tell you anything more than the laptime would suggest about the fuel load.

I was thinking on maybe somehow charting how, on a single run, the acceleration of the car in the traction zones vs the acceleration when the car was flat out. But then again I could be talking rubbish
