Great idea to hold a race at night - Heidfeld

By on

The BMW Sauber F1 Team is preparing to contest the first night race in the history of Formula One, the Singapore Grand Prix. Nick Heidfeld describes his expectations regarding the 15th round of the season and admits to looking forward to the extraordinary event.

"Everyone is really looking forward to the Singapore Grand Prix," says Nick Heidfeld. "First because it's a new track, second because it's a street circuit and third, of course, because we'll be driving at night. The floodlights should ensure it is actually as bright as day but nobody has experienced how these lighting conditions will feel at Formula One speeds."

Despite these concerns, Nick appreciates the first night race in the history of the pinnacle of motor racing. According to Nick, the race is held at a point in time (20:00hrs local time / 13:00hrs BST) which will suit his biorhythm particularly well. "In principle, I think it's a great idea to hold a race at night," he says. "I'm more of a night person - I like to go to bed late - than an early-riser. For that reason, the rhythm of this weekend should suit me. It's a question of adjustment. It's important to eat and sleep at the right times in order to ensure you're really on the button when you need to be."
