Surprisingly enough, there have been very little advancements in the attempt to return France to the Grand Prix calendar. The 2009 season will be the first of the modern era to not have a French GP, and the French goverment is hoping that it will be the last.

Speaking to 'Europe 1' radio, the countries Prime Minister Francois Fillon said, "I cannot believe that we do not have a Grand Prix of France."

Adding that his government "will do everything so that there is a Grand Prix as quickly as possible."
