Kubica linked with Renault

After the announcement that BMW Sauber will retire from F1 and the statement of Nelson Piquet Jr. that he will be dropped by Renault, rumours that link Robert Kubica and the French team aren't far away. The good relationship between Kubica and Alonso and the fact that the young Pole got its first taste of F1 in a Renault car, only reinforce the rumours.

Kubica started his Formula One career with Renault as he was rewarded a test with the team after winning the 2005 World Series by Renault. In 2006, the young Pole received a contract with BMW Sauber as test and reserve driver, but in August already, Kubica became a race driver as he took over from Jacques Villeneuve. In his years with the team, Kubica scored one victory at the Canadian Grand Prix in 2008 and several podium places.

Now that the team has announced its retirement from the sport, Kubica could return to where it all started for him. The Italian magazine 'Autosprint' amplifies the rumours reporting that Kubica himself would prefer to join Renault or McLaren in 2010.
