Domenicali admits Alonso will fullfil Shumacher-like role

With Fernando Alonso being Ferrari bound for next season, he is expected to become more involved with the team and car development than his predecessor Kimi Raikkonen. Team principal Stefano Domenicali has told 'Auto Bild' that that's what Alonso will be better at than the Finn, although the latter is simply perfect when there is a winning car under him.

Domenicali compared the two drivers, "In a car that is capable of winning, he was and is perfect. But if the car needs to be developed and the team fired up, Alonso is better."

"Ferrari needs someone for the team similar to Schumacher."

But Domenicali isn't ignorant about what happened the previous time that Alonso had a strong teammate, "I've spoken to Fernando about what happened at McLaren. He felt betrayed, and also that his relationship with Lewis was not always correct. At Maranello that will not happen. I can guarantee that."
