Pre-Christmas date for RB2

Following Toyota's lead in getting their 2006 car out early, Red Bull Racing are all set to reveal their RB2 at Silverstone on 16th December. An early launch will maximise development time on the car before the season opener in Bahrain.

Although the "official" Launch party of the 2006 Red Bull Racing car will be held in the week leading up to the first race of the 2006 season in Bahrain, the RB2 is all set to break free its Milton Keynes birthplace on December the 16th. This pre-Christmas date will see the car at the Silverstone cicuit in Northamptonshire. The car will be put through a series of shakedown tests to check the core elements of the car work in harmony before the serious work of fine tuning and setting up the car start in the new year. Such an early start to the season will maximise the development work that can be done prior to the start of the 2006 season in March.

The RB2 will be the first true Red Bull designed car. The RB1 was a legacy of the Jaguar design department. The RB2 has been designed by ex-Renault man Mark Smith. It will further benefit from the scrutinous eyes of Adrian Newey when he joins Red Bull from the Mercedes Mclaren at the end of February.
