Ferrari look to be in good shape for today's qualifying session as Fernando Alonso set the fastest time with the extra soft tyres. Nico Rosberg came close but lost out in the final sector, while Mark Webber was third fastest.

After only 20 minutes, Timo Glock was the first to cause some consternation as he lost a wheel wheel on track. The wheel nut was seen flying off the hub before the wheel came loose. Nick Wirth later confirmed that it was due to a wheel gun problem.

Most drivers are occupied with hard tyre runs in the first 45 minutes, trying to fix some settings before heading off for qualifying. Before the final runs began, Massa was quickest on a 1'54.7, followed by Rosberg 1'54.8, Alonso 1'55.0, Vettel 1'55.1, Schumacher 1'55.2 and Button 1'55.7.

The last 10 minutes were filled with quick laps, with most drivers completing a few laps on the super soft tyres.
