Formula 1 returns to one of its most iconic venues this weekend as Spa-Francorchamps hosts the Belgian Grand Prix, a race steeped in history and synonymous with some of the sport's greatest moments.

This year's event marks the 71st running of the Belgian Grand Prix, further cementing its place among Formula 1's most prestigious races. While Spa-Francorchamps has become almost inseparable from the event, the Grand Prix has not always been held in the Ardennes.

The legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit will host the Belgian Grand Prix for the 58th time, making it by far the race's most frequent home. However, the event has also visited two other venues during its history.

The former Zolder circuit staged the Belgian Grand Prix on 10 occasions, while Nivelles-Baulers welcomed Formula 1 for two editions in the early 1970s.

Today, Spa remains one of the championship's greatest challenges, combining high-speed straights, sweeping corners and unpredictable weather to create one of the most demanding weekends of the season.

No driver has enjoyed more success at the Belgian Grand Prix than Michael Schumacher. The German claimed a remarkable six victories at the event, establishing Spa as one of his most successful circuits.

It was also at Spa-Francorchamps where Schumacher announced himself to the Formula 1 world, taking his maiden Grand Prix victory in 1992 while driving for Benetton.

His record remains unmatched, although Lewis Hamilton and Ayrton Senna are close behind with five Belgian Grand Prix victories apiece.

Among the teams, Ferrari stands alone as the most successful constructor in Belgian Grand Prix history. The Italian marque has celebrated victory 18 times, giving it a three-win advantage over McLaren, which has claimed 15 victories at the event.
