Following his comeback to Grand Prix racing this season, Michael Schumacher had not rejoined the Grand Prix Drivers Association nor planned to do so. But the German now has rejoined although not as a highly active member. His teammate Nick Heidfeld fills the position of chairman, which Schumacher occupied from 1994 to 2005.

Sabine Kehm, Schumachers spokeswoman said to news agency DPA, "Yes, Felipe [Massa] talked with Michael after the race in Melbourne. Michael still supports the GPDA's work but he will no longer play as active a role as previously."

The active roles pertain to Felipe Massa, Sebastien Vettel, and Nick Heidfeld, under the positions of GPDA directors.
