Newey unlikely to experiment with 2012 parts

Interviewed at Red Bull's headquarters in Milton Keynes, the team's technical director Adrian Newey commented on how the season went, and what is still to do this year. He also is unlikely to follow Ferrari's route into trying out parts for next year's car during 2011.

Adrian Newey: "Our focus now internally is entirely 2012. Development for this year of course has stopped."

When asked if there is a chance for Red Bull to try out components for 2012 on this year's Red Bull RB7, the Englishman was unsurprisingly hesitant, and hence it appears unlikely that any parts for next year will make it to the grid this year.

"Whether or not we will try out new parts for new year on this year's car, we don't know, but it depends whether or not we can fit that without giving any performance advantage away."

The team is of course eager not to show what it is working on towards 2012. Ferrari on the other hand are in a completely different situation, as the Scuderia tried its 2012 front wing at the Korean GP last week to validate if their wind tunnel number are correct, an important knowledge in the development process of the entire 2012 competitor.

Newey concluded that while the team is still very much enjoying the next races, the minds are already set on 2012: "It's really a matter of enjoying us in these final races, getting our heads down and get prepared for next year".
