Lucky Strike B·A·R Honda has announced today that it has signed a Technical Partnership with Alcon. Alcon, renowned for the manufacture and supply of high specification brakes and clutches for a wide range of Motorsport disciplines, will supply bespoke brake calipers and master cylinders for the team’s B·A·R Honda 006 Formula One car.

B·A·R’s association with Alcon dates back to 2002 when the two organisations completed a development project on an innovative F1 brake caliper design. Alcon then provided the team with its master cylinders for the 2003 season. The success of the joint development project has secured Alcon the contract to supply the team with three different types of caliper to deliver optimum performance on the race track in 2004.

B·A·R Technical Director, Geoffrey Willis, commented….
“Our aim is to challenge for podium finishes at every race during the 2004 season. Achieving a competitive advantage over our closest rivals is critical and we are confident Alcon's range of new F1 calipers will contribute towards that objective.”

Alistair Fergusson, Alcon’s Managing Director enthused….
“The team at Alcon is very excited about our latest venture into F1. B·A·R’s technical expertise, experience, attention to detail and determination to succeed make it an excellent partner for Alcon to continue development work on the next generation of F1 braking systems.”
