Ferrari to race for Alex Zanardi in Austria

Ahead of the season-opening Austrian Grand Prix, the Scuderia Ferrari Mission Winnow team has announced that it will add a special message to the livery of its 2020 car.

The Italian team will take to the track in Austria with a message of support for Alex Zanardi, following the racing driver and Paralympic champion’s terrible accident. The two-time CART champion was training in a handbike event to promote sport for those with disabilities when he suffered a big accident.

After being transferred to the Siena hospital, the Italian underwent three hours of neurosurgery and maxillofacial surgery before being placed in a medically-induced coma. Zanardi has undergone another surgery since.

The former F1 driver is currently still fighting for his life in a Siena hospital. Ferrari has decided to place the ForzaAlex message on either side of the roll hoop of Sebastian Vettel’s and Charles Leclerc’s car for the Austrian Grand Prix to express its support towards Zanardi.
