Senna wins in Australia

One of the most famous names in motor racing won a race here in Albert Park on Friday. Bruno Senna, nephew of the late Ayrton Senna took victory in the Formula 3 race by the comfortable margin of over four seconds. Earlier in the day, the Brazilian had a chat with Gerhard Berger, co-owner of our sister team, Scuderia Toro Rosso. Gerhard was asked by Ayrton’s sister, Viviana, to help the youngster when he first started out on his racing career.

Super Aguri had to really rush to get their cars ready for this season and they have ended up running what used to be 2002 Arrows cars which belonged to former Minardi owner Paul Stoddart. Amazingly, one of the cars they have here this weekend is on its second trip to Melbourne in a matter of months. Apparently, it had been used as a show car in the city promoting a local burger joint. Presumably the team had to clean out all the used polystyrene burger boxes, empty ketchup sachets and plastic knives and forks, before it was fit for active service. Even stranger, all three of the car’s owners are here in Melbourne this weekend: the current one, Aguri Suzuki and both its previous owners in the shape of Stoddart and former Arrows boss, Tom Walkinshaw.
