WEC: Kubica, Hanson and Ye take emotional victory for Ferrari at Le Mans


Former Formula One driver Robert Kubica and his team-mates Yifei Ye and Phil Hanson took an emotional victory for the AF Corse Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans while the the two works Ferrari entries finished third and fourth respectively. Grand Prix winner Robert Kubica, Phil Hanson and Yifei Ye took a sensational win in the 93rd running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the fourth round of the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship.
The #83 AF Corse trio drove a faultless race to become the first customer team to win Le Mans outright since Champion Racing triumphed 20 years ago.
Although Ferrari looked to have a chance of securing a 1-2-3 with just three hours left on the clock, the #51 and #50 Ferraris encountered technical issues. The Italian marque refused to explain the root cause of the problem, but radio exchanges suggested that the two Ferrari cars suffered engine overheating issues.
As a result of Ferrari's problems, Porsche took second with the #6 Porsche Penske 963, while the #51 Ferrari AF Corse 499P driven by Antonio Giovinazzi, James Calado and Alessandro Pier Guidi completed the podium. The #50 sister Ferrari 499P driven by Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina and Nicklas NIELSEN finished fourth.
Manthey successfully defended its LMGT3 Le Mans title as the Manthey 1st Phorm Porsche trio of Richard Lietz, Ryan Hardwick and Riccardo Pera triumphed after a big battle with the #21 VISTA AF Corse Ferrari 296 LMGT3 of Alessio Rovera, Francois Heriau and Simon Mann.
LMP2 fell to the Inter Europol Competition squad of Jakub Smiechowski, Tom Dillmann and Nick Yelloly after a remarkably dramatic final hour penalty.
Yelloly overtook the #48 VDS Panis Racing Oreca-Gibson of Esteban Masson in the last 20-minutes after being forced to serve a penalty for pit-lane speeding in the final hour. But an issue for Masson allowed the British driver to overtake going in to the Ford Chicane to grab the LMP2 glory.
The Polish team won its second Le Mans LMP2 title in three years, while the AO by TF Sport car of Luis Deletraz, Dane Cameron and PY Hyett took the Pro/Am crown and third place overall in the LMP2 category.
