Domenicali thinks Vasseur needs "to save all his energy to continue his work"

Amid speculations around Ferrari team boss Fred Vasseur's future at the Scuderia, former Ferrari team principal and current F1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali has defended the Frenchman, claiming that the 57-year-old has been doing a great job and he needs to continue his work.

Following a successful end to their 2024 F1 season, Ferrari had been expected to contend for titles this season. However, the Italian team has endured a hugely disappointing start to the 2025 campaign despite signing Lewis Hamilton to partner Charles Leclerc.

Ahead of last weekend's Canadian Grand Prix, reports in Italy claimed that Vasseur's position was under threat, suggesting that the Frenchman might lose his position at the end of the current season.

Vasseur himself then offered his take, explaining that the talk is "disrespectful" and "very harsh" and it might have a negative effect on the Italian team as it can destabilize the Maranello-based squad.

Speaking to L'Equipe, former Ferrari team principal and current F1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali has defended Fred Vasseur, claiming that the Frenchman has been doing a great job and he needs to continue his work.

"Leave Frédéric Vasseur alone. He's doing a great job and he needs to stay focused and strong on his goal. He needs to disconnect from outside pressure. Right now, he needs to save all his energy to continue his work.

"I told him, and I'm telling you officially: I believe in him! He must not fall into the trap of weakening in the face of these attacks, because they always come. Let him work in peace, that's how Ferrari will return to the top."
