Although Nico Mueller, Nyck de Vries and Taylor Barnard led the 38-lap Jakarta E-Prix in the opening stages, Dan Ticktum came out op top in the end, with Edoardo Mortara and Nico Mueller having completed the podium. The American-owned Formula E team, CUPRA KIRO, battled to a historic first victory in its debut season in the series, with Dan Ticktum capitalising upon a thrilling Jakarta E-Prix to finish on top of the podium.

In Qualifying, the British driver advanced to the duels from Group B and started from fifth, narrowly missing out on the Semi-Finals by 0.005 seconds. His team-mate, David Beckmann, lined up in 15th on the grid.

Ticktum maintained his position at the start and moved into the podium positions using a well - executed Attack Mode strategy while two late caution periods strengthened his hold on the lead.

Facing a sprint to the chequered flag, the Briton defended from Edoardo Mortara over the final four laps to stand on the top step in his 60th Formula E start, with his 25-point haul launching him to fifth in the World Drivers’ Championship.

Reflecting on his maiden Formula E victory, Ticktum reckoned: “So, there it is, as they say in the trade. I honestly didn’t think my first win in Formula E would come this year. I was expecting some good results, but I think what we’ve all achieved with our rate of improvement as a team so far this year has been remarkable.

"I’m doing a good job, the team is doing a good job, and it’s all come together. Obviously, none of this would have been possible without our change in ownership, and the support we receive from The Forest Road Company, CUPRA, and Porsche.

"We struggled at the beginning of the season, but now, we’re consistently putting the car in a position to chase and achieve big results. I’m very proud of the team, and it’s nice to shut up my haters as well.”

Fresh from the champagne showers after recording a 14th career podium in Formula E, Edoardo Mortara said: “I’m very happy with the result. Since the beginning of the weekend, we could feel we had a strong car here in Jakarta, so it’s satisfying to come away with a good haul of points and some silverware.

“Of course, there is a little bit of disappointment as a team, because it could have been even more today, Nyck was unfortunate. But we are still tracking ahead of our targets and growing and developing as a group with every race.

“On a personal note, I’m also very happy to have a first podium with Mahindra Racing. It’s already been a fantastic journey over the last 18 months, and this gives us a great platform to keep building over the last two events in Berlin and London, and then into next season.”

Finishing third in Jakarta, Nico Mueller's podium in Indonesia marked his first with the Andretti Formula E team and second career podium in Formula E.

“Obviously I’m very pleased for the whole team and all the crew. After all the hard work everyone has put in, scoring a podium here feels very good. We had a strong race and demonstrated good pace combined with our well thought out strategy, and it paid off with a podium.

"Moreover, what makes me very eager to go into the last four races of the season is that I felt much more comfortable in the car, particularly in Qualifying. I wasn’t quite able to put it together in the tricky conditions and I paid the price when I dipped a wheel off the racing line.

"Otherwise, I think we were clearly in the Duels today. If we can make that happen in the last four races, I think we can end this season very strongly and that’s the biggest positive takeaway.”
