FP2: Norris tops second practice, Ferrari continue to impress at Silverstone

McLaren driver Lando Norris bounced back in second practice at the British Grand Prix to top the one-hour session while Ferrari duo of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton continued to impress with a second and third place. F1Technical's senior writer Balazs Szabo reports on FP2 at Silverstone.
Having ended up second quickest in the opening practice session at the British Grand Prix, Lando Norris set a 1m25.816s on Pirelli's soft tyres to go fastest in the late afternoon session.
Nine-time British Grand Prix winner Lewis Hamilton abandoned his first flying lap on the softs, but he managed to squeeze out a second flying lap to move up to P3.
His team-mate Charles Leclerc failed to dip below the 1m 26s barrier, but he still managed to end up second quickest before completing a very impressive high-fuel run on Pirelli's mediums.
Championship leader Oscar Piastri sat in fourth, almost half a second behind his team mate, ahead of reigning champion Max Verstappen and Mercedes driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli.
Lance Stroll completed another strong Friday just as he did at the Red Bull Ring a week ago, having ended up P7, ahead of the Mercedes of George Russell and the Racing Bulls of Isack Hadjar while Liam Lawson completed the top 10.
Williams endured a tough Friday at Silverstone. Alex Albon was the highest-placed of the Williams drivers, having set the 11th quickest lap. His team-mate Carlos Sainz was a further three tenths of a second slower which was only enough for the 16th place on the leaderboard.
On the back of their intense battle in the closing stages of the Austrian Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso and Gabriel Bortoleto ended up 12th and 13, ahead of Esteban Ocon and Yuki Tsunoda, who completed his first laps in FP2 after he handed over his RB21 to Arvid Lindblad in the opening session.
Nico Hulkenberg finished P17, as the Alpine's of Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto finished either side of the Haas of Oliver Bearman in P19.
