On the back of a very impressive opening day at the British Grand Prix, Ferrari's seven-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton claimed that it feels "incredible to be out on track at Silverstone in a Ferrari for the first time."

Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc completed a solid day, racking up a total of 110 laps. The Scuderia had elected to fit both cars with a new power unit, as was the case for the majority of other teams.

The opening session saw Hamilton and Leclerc complete their programmes without any problems. The Monegasque started the session gathering data with rakes fitted to the front of his car.

The second one-hour session saw the Monegasque and the Briton run in qualifying trim before they switched their focus to a run with a heavier fuel load to evaluate race pace.

Having ended the session quickest, Lewis Hamilton went on to take third on the leaderboard in the late afternoon practice.

"It’s been a really exciting day," started the Briton. "Pretty incredible to be out on track at Silverstone in a Ferrari for the first time. The car felt good in both sessions, even though I hit some traffic on my fastest lap in FP2, so there’s definitely time to find.

"It’s always amazing to be back here. This is the greatest circuit in the world and definitely my favourite. Great to see so many people already here on a Friday. The atmosphere is just incredible."

Hamilton continued: "It's pretty incredible and also with McLaren and Red Bull having upgrades, so for us to be in the mix still given they have had a step today, it's really positive.

"I definitely feel like we can dream of having a strong weekend for sure. Executing and putting it all together and extracting it is another thing but I'll prepare myself the best I can to make sure we get the best result."
