Williams provide fans the opportunity of creating a one-off livery for the Sao Paulo Grand Prix

Williams have invited fans to help create an iconic one-of-a-kind livery under a campaign announced with partner Gulf Oil International at a special event in London.

As part of the campaign, fans are being asked to submit the words that best capture what Williams and Gulf mean to them.

These messages of support, pride and love will be woven into a unique design fusing bold typography with the Gulf colours that will transform the FW47 driven by Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz at this year’s Brazilian Grand Prix in November.

The Driven by Words campaign was unveiled by Gulf Oil International CEO Mike Jones at an event at Williams’ Fan Zone in London’s Piccadilly Circus, where he was joined by Team Principal James Vowles and Alex Albon.

Fans will be able to make their voices until August 25. "By visiting williamsf1.com or gulfoilltd.com, they can submit five words a day to encapsulate the moments, ambitions and memories that make Williams and Gulf special – in any language, and from around the world."

The Driven by Words campaign follows the Gulf x Williams Fan Livery Vote from 2023, which saw more than 180,000 votes cast from around the world to select the Bolder than Bold livery, which ran on the FW45 at the Singapore, Japan and Qatar Grands Prix that year.

Commenting on the campaign, Gulf Oil International's CEO Mike Jones: “We are thrilled to continue writing Gulf’s exceptional racing history with our partner Atlassian Williams Racing. We share a united passion for racing, and we celebrate those who make it all matter – the fans.

"This livery will be a first of its kind, ensuring fans are at the heart of the campaign by creating a design, utilising their words, on the iconic Gulf heritage livery. This livery will create a defining moment when it takes to the track in Brazil later in the season.”

Speaking of the campaign, Albon stated: “One of the great things about being an Atlassian Williams Racing driver is meeting our incredible fans from across the globe and seeing what the team means to them.

"Through this partnership with Gulf, we are giving them a unique chance to have those emotions written onto the car, and it will be an honour to have all those supporters with me when I race in Brazil.”

Commenting on the one-off livery, Williams team boss James Vowles stated: “We are delighted to unveil this new campaign with Gulf, uniting two icons of motorsport in a tribute to the people who fuel F1: the fans.

"Driven by Words is the latest example of our commitment to bring fans closer to the team than ever before, whether that is through fan zones, behind-the-scenes social media content or exclusive online experiences.

"Atlassian Williams Racing has one of the most loyal and passionate fanbases in sport, and I can’t wait to see their words transformed into an unmissable livery for the Brazilian Grand Prix.”
