MotoGP: Acosta reflects on his first sprint podium of 2025 after the "darkest start to a season of my life"

Reflecting on leading in the Brno MOTOGP Sprint and scoring a much-needed Sprint podium, KTM factory rider Pedro Acosta claimed that he has endured the darkest start to his MotoGP career.
Six-time MotoGP champion Marc Marquez looked to have today's Brno Sprint under control in the early stages of the 10-lap race. However, the Spaniard slowed down on Lap 5 which allowed Pedro Acosta to move into the lead. It quickly became apparent that Marquez had issues with the tyre pressure.
On the penultimate lap, Marquez looked eager to regain the lead from Acosta. The six-time MotoGP champion did not hesitate as he made a move on Acosta on the direction change from Turn 8 into Turn 9. The Spaniard then managed to hold on to the lead to take his 11th Sprint victory of the season.
However, it was still the best sprint result for Acosta in 2025 as he managed to take second place, recording his first sprint podium since Aragon 2024.
Reflecting on his race, Acosta said: “Well, ultimately, it's a season where we suffered a lot, and now seeing all these people celebrating, it's… you know, it was really, really hard. The darkest start to a season of my life, honestly. And to be back on the podium, it's really, really nice.
"Thanks to the entire KTM team, to everyone back home supporting me, to Miguel from Fortuna Motorsport, to Adrián who is my coach, to Carmelo Morales who is there, and also to Remy who helps me a lot in difficult moments. For all this, thank you to everyone.
"And I also want to dedicate this result to Borja Gómez. The Sachsenring wasn't the race I wanted to give him. I think this one is much better for a dedication."
