MotoE: Casadei secures double victory at Balaton, home hero Varga suffers serious crash

Mattia Casadei completed a perfect weekend at the inaugural race at the Balaton Park Circuit, winning both races at the brand new venue located near Lake Balaton.

Race 1

At the start of Race 1, home hero Tibor Erik Varga made a great launch off the line, flying into the lead. However, he suffered a huge crash on Lap 1 which also forced Race Direction to stop the race. The Hungarian rider was taken to the medical centre for precautionary check, and his injury also meant that he was forced to miss the restart and Race 2.

Although he was challenged by Lorenzo Baldassarri in the dying stages of the race, Mattia Casadei fended off the challenge of the Italian to clinch victory in the first race.

Baldassarri came home in second plce, with Eric Granado completing the podium for LCR E-Team. Matteo Ferrari took fourth, while Alessandro Zaccone finished fifth after losing a place for exceeding the track limits on the final lap.

Race 2

The second race was shortened by a lap, leavng riders with seven laps to battle it out at the brand-new Balaton Park Circuit. Mattei Casadei came out victorious again, beating Nicholas Spinelli by just 0.554s in Race 2.

Matteo Ferrari completed the podium, recording his third finish of the season. Lorenzo Baldassarri looked highly competitive in the early stages of the race, but he struggled to keep his pace as the race was nearing its end, and the Italian ended up fourth, but it was nevertheless his best weekend in 2025.

Hector Garzo took fifth, from Andrea Zaccone in P6 ad Eric Granado in P7. Jacopo Hoscius finished eighth to repeat his best result of the season, with Jordi Torres and Kevin Zannoni having completed the top ten.
