Leclerc explains what he expects to become key to success in 2026

Ferrari’s reveal of its 2026 Formula One challenger on Friday was accompanied by a clear and measured message from Charles Leclerc, who framed the coming regulatory overhaul as both a technical test and an opportunity for growth. The Monegasque driver emphasised that the new era will demand more from drivers than ever before, but also expressed confidence in the team’s collective effort.
Reflecting on the scale of the upcoming changes, Leclerc underlined the intensity of the preparation required. “The 2026 regulations demand an even higher level of preparation, particularly for us drivers,” he said, noting that the shift in technical philosophy will reshape how drivers interact with the car.
“There are many new systems to understand and optimise, which is why we have been heavily involved from the early stages of the project’s development.”
Leclerc pointed to his experience within the team as a source of reassurance, highlighting that Ferrari has already navigated major regulatory transitions during his tenure.
“During my time with Scuderia Ferrari HP we have already experienced major regulatory changes together, so we know how complex this challenge can be,” he explained. “But we are working with a lot of motivation to arrive on track as well prepared as possible.”
Among the most significant hurdles, Leclerc singled out the redefined power unit and the expanded role of electrical energy deployment. He described the shift as both demanding and intriguing.
“Energy management and the power unit will be among the most significant aspects – a fascinating challenge which will require us drivers to adapt quickly, relying more on instinct to begin with, and then increasingly on precise data,” he said.
Yet even as he discussed the technical complexities, Leclerc made sure to acknowledge the emotional dimension of Ferrari’s journey. The bond with the tifosi, he stressed, remains a defining force. “The support of the fans will be especially important this season: it is what makes Ferrari so unique and pushes us to give our very best,” he concluded.
With the 2026 car now unveiled, Leclerc’s words set a tone of determination and unity. Ferrari enters the new regulatory cycle with a driver who is not only aware of the magnitude of the challenge but fully committed to meeting it head‑on.
