F1 STAT: The numbers that make Lewis Hamilton the dominant force at Silverstone

As Formula 1 returns to Silverstone for the 2026 British Grand Prix, one name continues to dominate the history books like no other—seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.
The seven-time World Champion has turned his home race into his own personal playground over the course of his Formula 1 career, setting records that may stand for years to come.
From victories and pole positions to podiums and laps led, no driver has enjoyed greater success at the birthplace of the Formula 1 World Championship.
Nine victories at homeHamilton is the most successful driver in British Grand Prix history, having claimed an incredible nine victories at Silverstone.
His first home triumph came in 2008 with a dominant wet-weather masterclass for McLaren, while his subsequent victories with Mercedes cemented one of Formula 1's greatest driver-team partnerships.
Interestingly, he had to wait until 2014 to claim his second victory on home soil, winning the British Grand Prix for Mercedes. Hamilton then remained unbeaten at Silverstone for four consecutive years.
After 'only' finishing second in 2018, he returned to the top step of the podium the following year and won again in each of the next two seasons. Hamilton secured his ninth—and most recent—British Grand Prix victory in 2024, during his final season with Mercedes.
Master of qualifyingHamilton also holds the record for the most pole positions at the British Grand Prix, with seven.
Jim Clark ranks second with five pole positions. Jack Brabham, Nelson Piquet, Nigel Mansell and Damon Hill are tied for third, having each claimed three pole positions.
Among the current drivers, Fernando Alonso and Max Verstappen are the most successful qualifiers at Silverstone, with three pole positions apiece.
A podium machineConsistency has been another hallmark of Hamilton's remarkable Silverstone career. The Briton has stood on the podium an astonishing 14 times at his home Grand Prix—another all-time record.
Whether fighting for victories or salvaging strong results on difficult weekends, Hamilton has repeatedly found a way to finish among the top three in front of his home crowd.
Alain Prost, Michael Schumacher and Kimi Räikkönen each finished on the Silverstone podium seven times, while two-time World Champion Fernando Alonso is the most successful driver on the current grid, with six podium finishes at the British Grand Prix.
The points leaderUnder Formula 1's modern points system, Hamilton has scored more championship points at the British Grand Prix than any other driver.
His tally of 345 points reflects not only his victories but also his remarkable consistency over the years, as he has rarely left Silverstone without making a significant contribution to his championship campaign.
Hamilton's dominance is perhaps best illustrated by another remarkable statistic. Across his British Grand Prix appearances, he has led 367 laps—comfortably more than any other driver in the history of the event.
