ING Renault F1 Team launches fourth Altran Engineering Academy

By on

For the fourth year running the ING Renault F1 Team and Altran are pleased to announce the Altran Engineering Academy. The team will open its doors to one winning candidate, who will gain the opportunity to work on a 6-month placement with the ING Renault F1 Team R&D department. Included in the prize are accommodation in Oxford, a company car and a comfortable salary.

The winner will also have the support of an Altran expert who will help him settle and focus on his mission. Candidates will present their case study on a project featuring technological innovation in one of seven disciplines: aerodynamics, power, performance engineering, vehicle dynamics, control systems, electronics, materials transducers and fuel technology.

Previous winners Mark Caldwell, Isaac Prada and Gustav Kristiansson have defined their experience as a turning point in their career. With more than one participant to the competition now being employed by the team and others actively in touch for future positions, the initiative has proven an invaluable platform for young graduates seeking a career in motor racing, giving them unique, privileged access to the high-performance, cutting-edge engineering environment of a top Formula 1 team.

Robin Tuluie, Head of R & D at the ING Renault F1 Team, is quick to highlight the benefits of the programme: "The competition intrinsically attracts a broad range of young engineers with a passion for our disciplines who are not intimidated by the complexity of our environment and the commitments we require. Their support in these four years has been technically valuable to the team and, for my department, a rewarding human experience."

The previous three editions of the Altran Engineering Academy have been a resounding success and thousands of people visited the official competition website and hundreds of registrations were received from candidates in more than twenty countries. Candidates can register on the official website of the competition: http://www.altran-academy.com.

Altran - ING Renault F1 Team technological partnership

How do we respond to changes in engine regulations; how do we improve the car's aerodynamic performance? High-level expertise is required in many different fields to design and develop a front-line Formula 1 chassis-engine package. Altran has been supporting the Renault F1 Team since 2002, providing talented engineers in a variety of specialities, including computation, information technology, electronics, logistics and quality control. They contribute their skills to chassis development in Enstone, UK, and to engine design in Viry-Châtillon, near Paris. The Altran experts are driven not only by the human and sporting adventure, but also by the technological challenge offered by the highly-competitive and rewarding F1 environment.
