I like the special atmosphere - Kubica

By on

Following his accident at the Canadian GP, Robert Kubica had to sit out the US Grand Prix and was also out of action for the Silverstone tests in mid-June. But this weekend, the BMW Sauber F1 Team driver will be back behind the wheel to make his British GP debut.

Robert made a tremendous comeback at last weekend's French Grand Prix: he finished fourth and, together with Nick's fifth place, this was the BMW Sauber F1 Team's most successful team result to date. Now the Pole is hoping to secure another good result at Silverstone.

"I think Silverstone will be a good weekend for us," he says. "Last year we were quite competitive there. I like the track as it is very challenging - and very quick, particularly the first sector. Last year, the grip level was quite low. I missed this year's test session, so it will be interesting to see how we will perform on Bridgestone tyres there."

Just like Nick, Robert is also loves the atmosphere at Silverstone. Even the traditional British weather won't dampen his spirits: "Around the world, the British weather is well known for not being very good. But every time I have been at Silverstone for the race I have had a really sunny weekend, so let's hope it will be nice weather again. It is good to be there because the British people enjoy motor racing and I like the track layout. It is not the newest venue but I like the special atmosphere that you get at this event."
