Formula One needs Villeneuve!

This statement follows the question to David Coulthard to react on Canadian rumours that have spread the word of a possible return of Jacques Villeneuve into Formula One. The Scot is know to be a friend of JV, and is sure "he is a character for the sport"

David continued by saying: "He always expressed his views without giving consideration to the consequences or thinking about how it might then endear him to the team and sponsors."

This however does not mean it's the only possible point of interest for teams in Jacques: "But in the car he was also entertaining."

Coulthard, McLaren's veteran driver, recalls an occasion when he argued with Jacques about whether a particular corner could be taken at full-throttle.

"He was the guy who went and tried to take it flat. 'He'll come and show you the data and say 'look, I was flat-out' even if the car is in bits because it didn't quite make it. That's an interesting quality."

"I hope he finds a spot."

Villeneuve is certainly an interesting persoon for F1, and is hoped to find the blistering pace back if put in a competitive car. It looks however that he may need some support like Coulthard's, as BAR chief Richards does loudly tell the media he would be very surprised if anyone would be interested in the 1997 F1 champion.
