It has been a great period - Heidfeld

Having entered 134 Grand Prix races in his career so far, Nick Heidfeld is among the most experienced drivers in Formula One racing. However, to have been a part of the BMW Sauber F1 Team's development programme from the very start was a very special experience for the German driver.

The BMW Sauber F1 Team is able to look back on two exciting years, during which the squad from Munich and Hinwil has continuously been able to close the gap to the front-runners. It was an interesting period for all team members with many new experiences and growing challenges. And Heidfeld is no exception.

"Going through the experience of team building and team structuring provided me with my biggest learning curve," the 30-year-old comments. "I drove for various teams, and had to feel my way around. And now I have been in at the start-up phase of the BMW Sauber F1 Team. It has been a great period."

Over the years Nick's approach to his profession has changed over the years, as he confirms: "I think my approach had become somewhat cooler. I am no longer as awe-struck as I once was. However, Nick proved in 2007 that routine has nothing to do with stagnation: Never before in his career was he able to collect as many world championship points as during the past season.
