Our goal remains unchanged - Heidfeld

The BMW Sauber F1 Team is contesting its third season and currently prepares for the Bahrain GP. Nick Heidfeld talks about this year's title chances of the Munich and Hinwil based squad and assesses, when the team will have a realistic chance of fighting for the Drivers' and Constructors' Championships.

"All for 1" is the BMW Sauber F1 Team's motto for the 2008 Formula One season. After all, securing the first race win represents an ambitious goal. Still, the runner-up finishes Nick and Robert celebrated in Melbourne and at Sepang respectively demonstrated that it is a realistic one. And Heidfeld wants to adhere to the plan of the team. For him, the battle for the title is secondary. "To date, we made one step after the other and this strategy proved to work fine. Our goal for the current season remains unchanged," says the German.

According to Nick, the goal should be changed only next year. "In 2009, we want to become a factor in the battle for the World Championship. Should we be able to do so, we will be happy. If you want to fight for the title you have to be able to regularly win races. And that's a level we have not yet achieved."
