Riding the wave of Alonso-mania in Spain, Circuit de Catalunya announced that they are to add more seats to four grandstands and to extend general admission grass areas in order to have more place for spectators. This increase means 5,476 new seats, that is, 71,609 grandstand seats in all.

Thanks to these improvements, 8,000 new places will be available with additional toilet facilities to be built, foot bridges to be improved and general parking improvements.

In 2003 this circuit received the Formula One Management award for the best organisation of a Grand Prix, something the circuit hopes to repeat in 2006.

The Spanish Grand Prix will celebrate its 50th birthday in 2006 and the Circuit de Catalunya will be the setting of this event provisionally on May 12th, 13th and 14th.
