While however Kimi Raikkonen put in the fastest lap time, the Finn will be moved 10 places back because of an engine change. His teammate Juan Pablo Montoya will therefore start on pole tomorrow. He will be joined on the front row by Fernando Alonso with a Renault.

Both McLaren drivers and Alonso managed to put in astonishing laps. The Spaniard's teammate however outbraked himself in the first chicane while also going a little bit too wide in the second lesmo. Fisichella will have to start from 8th position tomorrow and may have to bear some complaints by his team manager Flavio Briatore.

In 4th and 5th are the BAR drivers. After a difficult friday session the Brackley based cars have found their pace and look to be in good shape for tomorrow's race. It's a threat to keep in mind for Alonso in his race for the championship.

Further down are Jarno Trulli and the two Ferraris. As Trulli was again 0.6 seconds faster than his teammate in 9th place on tomorrow's grid, there is already belief that a "Trulli train" will form and hold up several drivers during the first stint.

The 11th fastest time was set by David Coulthard who beat Villeneuve. Both men are faster than their teammates and will be in front and after the McLaren of Raikkonen on the grid.

In total it was a relatively normal qualifying with the expected McLaren's setting the fastest lap times. Apart from Fisico, only Albers lost considerable time due to errors and will have to start from the back. He will have a chance to improve in the race as his teammate at Minardi was a full second faster than Karthikeyan who is driving the old Jordan. Monteiro in the new one proves the new car is an improvement as he is more than a second quicker than his teammate.

Keep up for tomorrow's race how the champioship evolves.
