Spa almost washed away

Heavy rain made the second practice session of the Belgian Grand Prix weekend a washout at Spa-Francorchamps. Only 3 drivers ventured out of the pits and no one set a timed lap.Red Bull Racing Team 3th driver Vitantonio Liuzzi out a minute in to the 60-minute session, but the Italian went off under braking for Les Combes bringing out the red flags.

Robert Doornbos came out the box, but made his way slowly back to the Minardi pit. After the Red Bull of Liuzzi had been removed from the circuit, Championship leader Fernando Alonso would complete a slow lap in his Renault before he too returned to the pits and stayed there.
No one else would leave the pits during the free practice session.

The teams will now be busy looking at the weahter predictions for the rest of the weekend. It's certain that if, the rain keeps dropping down like it has done this afternoon at Spa, it will be a dangerous race for the drivers that will require a lot of concentration to avoid a car dump like last year's race.
