Everyone is still within reach - Rampf

Following the British Grand Prix, the BMW Sauber F1 Team is currently sitting near to the top of the constructors' and drivers' standings in the 2008 Formula One World Championship. For Willy Rampf, Technical Director of the team from Munich and Hinwil, this means that the battle for the title in motor sport's elite class is still wide open.

"We are second in the championship and Robert (Kubica) is just two points behind in the Drivers' Championship, so everyone is still within reach," says Rampf, commenting on the standings after the British Grand Prix.

After Nick Heidfeld's second place at Silverstone, the BMW Sauber F1 Team is lurking in second place on 82 points, behind Ferrari (96) but ahead of McLaren (72). In the Drivers' Championship, the BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers are also within striking distance: Robert has 46 points, just two less than the top three drivers. Nick is just behind in fifth place with 36 points.

However, Rampf is keen to emphasise that the good positions in the championships are no reason to relax. Just as was the case for the first nine races of the year, the second half of the season demands full commitment and concentration. "We are not giving up," says Rampf. "The fact that we are not leading is a great motivation. We must continue to reduce the number of mistakes and ensure that everything runs perfectly."
