Theissen not in a rush to announce 2009 driver line-up

Only days before the important home race for the BMW Sauber F1 Team at Hockenheimring, BMW Motosport Director Mario Theissen gave an interview with 'Auto Motor und Sport'. During this interview, Theissen expressed his desire to do well in Germany after the marvellous podium place of Nick Heidfeld at the UK.

At the moment, the BMW Sauber F1 team is second in the standings. Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld already collected 82 points for their team and the drivers are 4th and 5th in the driver standings.

Despite these good results, rumours about replacing Nick Heidfeld have never been far away. This has everything to do with the fact that the German had problems heating the tyres during the qualifying session. But after his good result during the British Grand Prix, those rumours seem to be off the table.

His team mate, Robert Kubica, has done well all season long, but still he is involved in the silly season as well. The young Pole has been linked with a seat at Ferrari.

Although his two drivers are linked with other teams, Mario Theissen believes there is no rush in taking a decision on the 2009 driver line-up. He said during the interview: "We will announce our driver pairing for 2009 between the summer break and the end of the season."
