Red Bull RB22

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Only issue I see with that is that S2 would be a recharging sector, so being in theory able to go faster may not pay...
According to Stella, he sees a strong correlation between the fastest cars (Mercedes/Ferrari) and downforce. Simply put he said the fastest cars have the most downforce.
That is a very general statement. And it is true in general, with the caveat of being able to generate that downforce efficiently, but there is also so much more than that!
My point is that in this (unfortunate) era, and in a track like Spa, S2 may be raced at a slower pace because of energy recovering. So having more downforce in those corners may not be that useful, since they may take them at a lower speed to recover more energy.

It must be the water!

Clever guy that Stella, lots of wisdom in that statement.

All jokes aside, F1 has been downforce driven for many many decades and altough engines play a part, the biggest factor is nearly always downforce. Which is why there are big differences between teams that share the same engines.

B-sport is and has always been the best for motorsport content. [-o<

The video shows very clearly why Red Bull's rear wing is more difficult to close than Ferraris.

“It's a mechanical problem that we spotted after the accident in Silverstone,” said Wache. However, he said some elements of the wing – most likely related to the activation mechanism – were being made “stronger” and that its discussions with the FIA had left the governing body happy with what it was planning to do.
