Renault R30

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

nope. always something new come out, this year is f-duct and exaust sistem, last year double diffuser. renault have advantage next year (including mclaren and ferrari) with KERS and i think this can be significant in car devolopment (specially when the R30 is based on the R29). 8)

But how you can be 100% sure of it?
It's been a long time since we drove last time, but it has also been a short time at the same time

it's must be progress. from Renault themselves said that the problems that they struggled through last seasons (due to wind tunnel) and the distribution of mass has resolved. increased the percentage of the wind tunnel and track. mass distribution is determined in advance. Time will have no problem that they gave R27 (wind tunnel) and R29 (distribution of mass caused by the weight of KERS). All other cars R25, R26 and R28 have been reliable, fast and could fight for victory. After all on this car Renault started working after Spa, and is the only team that has experience with a KERS from the big teams who began working on a new car.

We can't be 100% sure... all we say is: there is many positive things in 2010 that make the future promising for Renault... many problems they faced between 2007 and 2009 are now solved. But --- can still happen and new problems may appear, especially financial problems.

Lopez said early this season (after Spa AFAIR) that the R31 already generates as much downforce as the R30... with a simple diffuser of course.

you see! toyota published in some magazine that his not driven TF110 at the beginning produced 30% more downforce than TF109. It is a good sign for Renault!

Renault plans a major development of its R31. this car (R30) is upgrade from R29 (one of two slowest car in history od Renault - second one is R27) and and looks solid. you can only imagine what will be new car when you are done correctly from the beginning.
WHAT

If the R31 was even 1% faster, there would be no need for any other car to race next year! But 100%??? Get real!

Hmmm... This RW is unusually painted black and has heat sensors on it... they tested something...
Alan Permane also said they made some aero evaluations...

Edit: not heat sensors, but pression sensors.

I really doubt that Renault were the only big team who'd started working on their car out of those who used KERS last year... McLaren and Ferrari are more than capable of running 2 programs side-by-side and Mercedes started ages ago and they will surely have some people who had experience of the KERS they ran with McLaren last year.

I look forward to seeing what Renault come up with next year though.

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

More sencors here; on the endplate and the secondary flap:

Image

Are they preparing for a moveable RW ?

And that secondary flap looks like it is no more rigidly connected to the primary flap (thanks to that vertical piece that crosses the A from Renault), imposed by the rules, like in the original version of this wing :

It's a conventional "V" section wing, but it had a series of pressure taps across its width. yo can see the clear lines taped to the wings surface. these can also be seen routing down the side of the endplate into the beam wing

:)

In addition, there is a metallic 'articulation', like a FW one, in the middle of this 'modified wing...

The lastest RF1 podcast is out, some interesting information about development(started in full scale in july, but in small scale allready in may) of the R31. I really think that this year, they have shown the potential to develop a championship winning car.
The speed of Ayrton Senna.
The mind of Alain Prost.
The dedication of Michael Schumacher.
The determination of Alex Zanardi.
