Ferrari Power Unit Hardware & Software

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

I would assume that the inverter and switch mechanisms have some sort of influence on this as well...
Well, the inverter would be the main part of the power electronics. Not sure what you mean about the vague "switch mechanisms"
The part that Honda switched at like 40kHz... The M->G->M of the MGUH.

When? Source?

EDIT: never mind.. just saw the report. Interesting decision for a likely rain filled weekend.

I'm a bit puzzled. What is the difference between ERS and ES ? And what part Ferrari precisely plan to upgrade ?

ERS = Energy Recovery System
ES = Energy store (battery)

Holey crap… and i thought assembling the lego Millennium Falcon with my son was complicated.

Man, I really hope this new PU impresses.

So officially, F1 has recognised in their articles that ferrari's new upgrade includes a new mgu-h. The Amus theory of "shifting to 800Vs" is losing creditibility in my mind..

It’s not a new PU. Only parts of it. Whole new PU will come next season.

ES = Energy store (battery)
I know the meaning but my question was rather the way it work.

It is interesting that most of the press about the ERS upgrade has been about power. Some saying a while ago, maybe 15hp, now it is less than 10hp.

However, would the new MGUH have more of an impact by being able to recover more energy? And if they can more energy recovered it would allow the maximum power to be used longer.
