Alpine A522 Speculation Thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I really, really hope Alonso isn't saddled with yet another bad engine. I'd hate to see him go out like that.

Edit:
I’ve done digging and this “source” is nothing but a Twitter troll and his bio also says “FIA accredited journalist” lol and Ocon literally said everything is good on the 16th.

Maybe they can pick up a TAG branded, championship winning, RBRH engine?🤔

You maybe 100% correct, they maybe just rumors. But there were rumors indentical to this one in preseason 2015 in Mclaren Honda thread. The rest is history.

We already have a troll here (that "vish"), no need for another one.

I challenged him to give a source for it and when he did, he provided a report that “the car isn’t fully build yet”… There is nothing in regards to the engine been underpowered or unreliable… Not a credible source at all.

I don't know if this is any indication, since BWT isn't involved in the WEC programme, but last year Alpine's WEC livery mimicked the F1 car, and now they've changed it to this:

Aha it’s referencing a character called Neo and a certain scene from a movie I adore called The Matrix :P

I think we can deduce from this that the launch has to be pre-recorded and they could have already used one of there two shakedown days to test the car in secret at Paul Ricard ala Red Bull at Silverstone yesterday?

The only source we had was Prost, but he just said like Binotto some time ago that those whole new engines are not fully reliable for now.

Which make sense. They need to have a powerful engine, for reliability they can do upgrade after
